Consideration of Timeframe

In this last of three posts in this series to help you find a great home stager, we examine how timeframes are crucial to the staging project.

Availability and Milestones

The time required to stage your home can vary based on the stager’s availability and your specific requirements. Discuss your desired timeframe with potential stagers and ensure they can meet your deadlines. Additionally, understand what conditions or requirements the stager needs to ensure the schedule is met. Effective communication and managing expectations are paramount to successful design projects.  A schedule of actionable items on both the stager and the home seller is required.

Planning for Staging

This is often overlooked, and stagers are brought in late in the selling process.  Having one consult as early as possible will often save money not just on staging but also on other repairs or upgrades. The consultation will define responsibilities, action plans and cost.  Trust the stager’s vision of a final look of the house to help determine all the needed work.  With the stager’s vision, the elements of their inventory and skills and experience may save you thousands of dollars and much precious time.

Embracing Flexibility

Unforeseen delays or changes can arise during the home-selling process. Look for a stager who can adapt to such circumstances without compromising the quality of the staging.  Is the property ready for staging?  Is all work completed?  Allowing work to carry on after the staging process is completed is not a good idea and most stagers will refuse to allow their inventory in a house that still requires work to be done.  Be honest about what is still required to be done.  Please note that contracts with stagers may have stipulations about this and you may breach the agreement and be subject to additional fees, delays and even risk of refusal of stagers items on the property.

Conclusion

Selecting the ideal home stager is a pivotal decision in the home-selling process. By thoughtfully balancing considerations of quality, cost, and timeframe, you can find the right partner to align with your goals and budget. The perfect home stager should possess a proven track record of delivering high-quality results, transparent pricing, and the adaptability to meet your timeframe requirements. With the right collaborator, your home can be transformed into an alluring and sought-after property, setting the stage for a successful sale.  Return on investment is as important as value of investment when considering the house sale is the biggest most of us will ever make.

Through this series of blog posts, it might seem that a stager needs to be a miracle worker and some are able to do just that, but not all.  It is a good idea to have more than one stager on your team.  Some stagers will not do full service and only do specific aspects of a staging process like, consultations only or vacant stagings for example.  If you need someone to clean and fluff up a property, look for someone who does that “fluffing” service.  Do you need additional items like décor and/or furniture?
